TYPOS IN FIRST EDITION OF THE GUITAR COOKBOOK

A few typos have surfaced in the FIRST printing of The Guitar Cookbook. Later printings have been corrected. If you purchased one of the early copies, here are the changes.

  • There are two mistakes on the full-fingerboard grids in Ex. 1.13 (pg. 8) and on the back cover: The second highest notes on the first string should be "C#" and "Db", not "F#" and "Gb", and the third highest note on the second string should be "G", not "D".

  • In the third sentence of the third paragraph following "Counting Time" on page 22, the words "numerator" and "denominator" should be reversed.

  • In Ex. 4.2 (pg. 38), the distance in steps for the flatted fifth/sharp fourth interval should be "3 steps", not "2 steps".

  • Traveling counter-clockwise around the cycle of fourths in Ex. 4.7 (pg. 42), the third note should be "Bb", not "E".

  • Travelling counter-clockwise around the cycle of minor seconds in Ex. 4.8a (pg. 43), the fifth note should be "Ab", not "Eb", the seventh notes should be "F#" and "Gb", not "Fb" and "G#", and the lower eighth note should be "Cb", not "C#".

  • Travelling counterclockwise around the cycles of minor sevenths in Ex. 4.8b, the cycle of minor thirds in Ex. 4.8c, and the cycle of flatted fifths in Ex. 4.8e (all on pg. 43), the sixth notes should be "Db" and "C#", not "D#" and "Cb".

  • On the fourth grid in Ex. 4.16 (pg. 49), a "2" should be added to the open fifth string.

  • The chord symbol over the sixth grid in Ex. 5.26b (pg. 128) should read "F/C (IV/I)", not "F/C (III/I)".

  • The last chord in the chart in Ex. 5.36 (pg. 141) should be "G/B", not "F/B".

  • Finally, the third row of chord symbols in Ex. 5.46a (pg. 157), should begin and end with "Bsus b2b5", not "Bsus2b5".
